Energy Management

Energy management is a business cost cutting technique that focuses on areas of wasteful energy use. A good example is grocery store lighting. Stores used to run all of their lights all the time, this wasted an inordinate amount of energy. Now most stores run at half lighting if they are open overnight, and sometimes even through peak hours.

Sometimes just replacing outdated equipment yields significant energy savings. It is not uncommon to have decades old lighting and climate control systems in a factory setting. Good energy management practice would replace those models with modern equivalents that can run on a fraction of the energy. That translates into a reduction in overhead that is a real benefit to any business.

If you are looking for a way to cut costs without losing valuable workers, energy management is just the thing to look into. In many cases things as simple as turning off computers when workers go home, or turning off lights in unused rooms can make significant reductions in your energy costs. If upgrades to old equipment are warranted, they will pay for themselves within a few short years.
